Dino Škrgić, a fourth-year student at the Department of Physics, Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics in Sarajevo, has been admitted to a doctoral program in the United States, at the University at Buffalo, as the top-ranked candidate who secured a prestigious scholarship.
As this young physicist told "Nezavisne novine," his passion for science emerged in childhood. He completed elementary and high school in his hometown of Cazin before enrolling in theoretical physics in Sarajevo, where he has an average grade of 9.88.
- I attribute this success to the education I received at the Department of Physics in Sarajevo, as well as the research projects I have been involved in. I was accepted to Buffalo immediately, before official decisions were made, and was notified that I was nominated for the Graduate School Fellowship, which is a significant monetary award lasting for five years. I think it is awarded at the university level, said Škrgić, noting that his girlfriend was his biggest support during this process.
The young physicist emphasized that the selection process was highly selective, with an average of 600 to 700 students applying, and departments accepting about 10.
