The largest city in Republika Srpska has launched a humanitarian campaign called “Banja Luka is a Friend” to collect aid for municipalities in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina affected by devastating floods. The campaign will initially run from October 8 to 16, in accordance with the needs of the affected population.
Milada Šukalo, the mayor’s advisor, emphasized that the campaign will last seven days, as the needs of the impacted population are changing daily. She called on all citizens to participate in the campaign in any way they can, showing their solidarity.
“All Banja Luka residents who wish to help can do so by
making a donation to the bank account of the Red Cross Society of BiH. Our
intention is to direct the financial assistance from Banja Luka not to be
distributed through multiple procedures but rather to be used concretely for
one family—perhaps for building a new home or providing scholarships for
students. We sent out such a request yesterday, asked if this was possible, and
received a positive response. Those who want to help can also bring necessary
items to the Fire Station in the city center, located on Hvarska Street,”
Šukalo added.
Here is the list of currently needed items:
Drinking water
Raincoats
Boots (smaller sizes)
Shovels
Gloves (construction and medical)
Wheelbarrows
Hygiene kits
Cleaning supplies
Candles
Lamps
Disinfectants
Anyone willing to help can bring the listed items to the
Fire Station in the city center, located at Hvarska Street bb (near the Banja
Luka Police Station), every day from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
As a reminder, the City of Banja Luka has already donated
100,000 KM to the municipalities affected by the floods in the Federation of
Bosnia and Herzegovina.
