Representing the City of Banja Luka, Mayor's Advisor Milada Šukalo, City Administration Spokesperson Adriana Basara, and Health Department Associate Mira Kecman were present at the event.

Advisor Šukalo emphasized the city's successful partnership with the “Iskra” Association, announcing further support for their upcoming initiatives, including a major conference in February next year.

“We want to highlight the city's role in developing breast cancer prevention programs as a vital part of our work, alongside the Health Center. During the next ‘For Women’s Lives’ campaign in March, we will dedicate a week to women’s health, and we expect ‘Iskra’ to be our partner in creating these events,” said Advisor Šukalo.

Pink October is a month dedicated to raising awareness about breast cancer, one of the most common malignant diseases affecting women worldwide. This global initiative aims to educate the public on the importance of early detection, preventive screenings, and support for those affected.

To mark this, the Educational Center for Family Medicine at the Health Center’s Polyclinic organized lectures titled “A Holistic Approach to Breast Cancer Prevention.” These lectures were specifically designed for senior students at the Banja Luka High School of Medicine to educate them on cancer prevention and promote healthy lifestyle habits.

It’s worth noting that the City Hall building was illuminated in pink on October 1 to launch the month dedicated to breast cancer awareness.
