WHERE DO GIRLS DREAM TODAY? (PHOTO)
Watermills were typically built in the most beautiful locations, on streams and small rivers, where the water could be dammed to ensure a fall, allowing the jet from the mill dam to turn the mill wheel.
These were fascinating and mysterious structures where people gathered, told stories while they waited...
Shrouded in mysticism, many beliefs and special stories were associated with them, often featuring fairies or dark, devilish forces. Each of these watermills had at least one story about a miller's encounter with such forces. Today, these secrets are mostly hidden within ruins.
There was a tradition that on St. George's Day, village girls would go to the watermills before sunrise and wash their faces over the mill wheel, hoping to marry and start a family by the next St. George's Day.
Where do girls dream their maiden dreams today, now that there are almost no more watermills?
