The tournament, which attracted guests from 25 cities in the country and the region, was officially opened by the Mayor of Banja Luka, Draško Stanivuković. On this occasion, he emphasized that the city must be a place where every individual can shine, a city where every sport, art, and science can flourish.

"Chess is a sport; it is also a science and an art, as well as a mental game that develops cognitive abilities. Most importantly, it fosters patience, which is particularly important for young people in these fast-paced times," said Stanivuković.

The President of the Chess Club "GAMBIT" and the director of the tournament, Nemanja Šipka, expressed his pride that this event has grown into a regional brand.

"We have 275 participants. In the team tournament, we have a record 27 teams from the country and the region, with guests from as many as 25 cities who will have the opportunity to play in two excellent tournaments and enjoy the beauty of our city," said Šipka.

He took the opportunity to thank the City of Banja Luka for recognizing the significance of this event, noting that without the support of friends, it would not have been possible to organize it.

The President of the Chess Federation of the City of Belgrade, Andrija Jorgić, expressed his joy at every meeting in Banja Luka, adding that several teams from Serbia and Belgrade are participating in this tournament.

"We have signed a Cooperation Agreement with the Chess Club 'Gambit,' and this is the most significant activity so far. It is extremely important that the City of Banja Luka supports this event because it is the way to ensure the survival of chess," said Jorgić.
