On Friday, May 9, Banja Luka will host a unique event called the “Night of Fortresses,” and among the main participants will be the knights from the citizens’ association Rusag.
This event, rooted in cultural tourism, will bring together enthusiasts of medieval tradition, history, and chivalric games.
Mladen Ćikić, president of UG Rusag, reflected on the association’s achievements over the past years, which, as he says, will be remembered for their great efforts, dedication, and commitment.
“The year 2024 was a year of growth, constant progress, and above all, a pursuit to preserve and promote the spiritual and cultural heritage of Bosnia and Herzegovina. As an association, we are proud to revive the tradition of chivalry and justice that dates back to the Middle Ages,” Ćikić emphasized.
Through numerous activities and projects, UG Rusag has successfully revived the heritage of knighthood, which is evident in the organization of "Chivalric Games" held in Prijedor, as well as across Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, and Serbia.
“Our mission is simple – to bring history closer to people in a way that transcends borders, making it universal and accessible to all,” added Ćikić.
The Night of Fortresses in Banja Luka offers more than just a chance to enjoy spectacular knightly battles and traditional games – it also provides an opportunity for visitors to immerse themselves in rich medieval heritage.
Knights, dressed in authentic medieval costumes, will demonstrate their skill and combat prowess, as well as their dedication to preserving tradition.
This event is just one of many in which UG Rusag plays a key role, offering new cultural experiences for all ages.
As an organization devoted solely to cultural work, Rusag takes pride in its non-partisan and inclusive nature, connecting people of all nations and faiths through a shared love for history.
For UG Rusag, the Night of Fortresses is yet another opportunity to reaffirm their commitment to educating the public and promoting medieval culture.
Through their performances, the knights of this association not only deliver a spectacle but also offer a valuable educational experience that inspires both children and adults to explore the past.
On May 9, Kastel Fortress will become a place of medieval battles, games, and customs.
