Banja Luka is a city where urban life can quickly give way to forests, walking trails and the tranquility of nature. This is precisely the side of the city highlighted by Spanish travel writer and communicator Clara Estrems, known for her travel platform “Las sandalias de Ulises”.
This time, she turned her attention to the forests and hiking trails leading towards Banj Brdo and the Monument to the Fallen Krajina Soldiers.
“Walking through the forests on the hill above Banja Luka is a beautiful way to discover another side of the city – even more peaceful, surrounded by trees, trails and nature,” Estrems wrote.
She particularly highlighted the various hiking routes in the area, offering visitors a chance to enjoy the landscape, fresh air and views opening up between the trees.
A CITY WITH A HIGH QUALITY OF LIFE
One of her observations particularly stands out when Banja Luka is viewed through the eyes of a foreign traveler.
“Banja Luka is a very peaceful, pleasant city with a high quality of life,” Estrems said.
There are two main ways to reach the top of Banj Brdo and its monument – by following the paved road or taking one of the trails through the forest. Estrems presented the choice to her followers as an invitation to discover Banja Luka’s natural surroundings in their own way.
Her impressions highlight one of the city’s distinctive features: the close connection between urban life and nature.
Banja Luka offers historical landmarks, architecture, lively streets and the Vrbas River, while forests, hiking trails and viewpoints are only a short distance from the city center.
It is this combination of city life, greenery and easy access to nature that offers visitors an opportunity to experience a different and more relaxed side of Banja Luka.
