A London dry gin produced by the “Milijaš” distillery from Srbac has won a gold medal at the prestigious Frankfurt International Trophy, where more than 3,300 samples from around the world were evaluated.
The
award-winning “D Gin” not only secured gold at the competition but was also
recognized as the best alcoholic beverage from Bosnia and Herzegovina, marking
a significant achievement for local production.
Founder
Maja Milijaš stated that the gold medal is both a confirmation of quality and
proof that knowledge gains true value only when put into practice.
“In a
way, this feels like closing one circle while opening a new chapter, giving me
space to focus on the most subtle details and make an additional step forward
in the world of spirits,” Milijaš said.
She explained that “D Gin” was created from a desire to transform formally acquired knowledge into a tangible product—one that can be smelled, tasted, and shared
“Alongside
science and laboratory analysis, I developed the ability to recognize nuances,
balance, and character in the product, but also the desire to test all of that
in the real world. The recipe development began three years ago and required
patience, testing, and precision until I achieved a product that met my
criteria,” she added.
Milijaš
emphasized that Frankfurt holds special symbolic value, as it was there that
she took her first steps in learning about this type of spirit.
“That’s
why applying to the Frankfurt International Trophy was not only a professional
step, but a personal one as well. It was also the first time that ‘D Gin’ was
presented to an expert jury capable of recognizing the finest nuances of taste
and aroma,” she noted.
The
distillery highlighted that feedback from the expert jury is highly valuable,
as it points to areas for further improvement and product development.
“This
award serves as a strong incentive for further positioning of domestic products
on the international market,” the distillery stated.
