The first tourist train journey on the Bihać–Bosanska Krupa route has been successfully completed, marking the return of passenger rail services to this section of the historic Una railway line after a lengthy interruption.
The project was implemented through cooperation between the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Railways and the Ministry of Economy of the Una-Sana Canton, with the aim of improving mobility for residents while enhancing the region’s tourism offer.
A
large number of citizens, railway enthusiasts, and visitors had the opportunity
to enjoy a scenic ride through the spectacular Una River canyon, widely
regarded as one of the most beautiful natural areas in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Passengers highlighted both the importance of restoring the railway connection and the attractiveness of the route itself, which combines stunning landscapes with a rich railway heritage. The journey offers a unique way to experience the natural beauty of Bosanska Krajina while traveling along one of the country’s most picturesque rail corridors.
During
June, July, and August, trains will operate on weekends, with services running
on Saturdays and Sundays in two daily departures. Trains from Bihać are
scheduled to leave at 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., while departures from Bosanska
Krupa are planned for 10:15 a.m. and 6:10 p.m.
To
encourage both local residents and tourists to experience the route, a
promotional one-way ticket price of just 2 KM has been introduced.
The
Federation Railways are inviting travelers to take advantage of the summer
season and enjoy an environmentally friendly journey along what is considered
one of the most beautiful railway routes in Bosnia and Herzegovina, according
to eKapija.
