Editors of the American magazine Esquire have explored newly opened hotels from the past year to compile a list of the best destinations worth visiting.
Their journey took them through the artistic districts of Paris, California’s wine region, and African forests. The title of the best new hotel for 2026 was awarded to Collegio alla Querce, located on a hilltop with stunning views of the city and the picturesque Tuscan landscape.
The
hotel is part of the Auberge Resorts Collection and reflects a rich historical
heritage.
The building dates back to the 16th century, when the estate consisted of a noble country residence surrounded by expansive gardens.
About a century later, it
was transformed into a private school for the elite known as Collegio. Today,
it is a luxury hotel featuring 83 rooms, retaining elements of its storied
past, with interiors designed by ArchFlorence.
Surrounded
by lemon trees, Collegio alla Querce offers a large outdoor pool, a luxury spa
center, and an on-site restaurant, La Gamella, which specializes in
seafood-based cuisine.
Esquire’s
research included 43 new hotels, six of which are located in Italy. The list
also features 16 hotels in the United States, six in North and Central America
(including Canada, Mexico, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, and Puerto
Rico), 14 across Europe, four in Asia (Bali, Japan, and the United Arab
Emirates), two in Africa—both in Kenya—and one in Australia.
