WIND AT THE BACK OF TOURISM – TOURIST COMMUNITY ESTABLISHED

The Municipal Council of Drvar adopted the Decision on the establishment of the Tourist Community of the municipality of Drvar at today’s session, creating an institutional framework for the systematic development of tourism as one of the strategic directions for the economic strengthening of this local community.

The mayor of Drvar, Dušica Runić, told Srna that the establishment of this framework represents the culmination of years of efforts, and expressed gratitude to the Government of Canton 10 for supporting the initiative.

Planning valorisation of natural and cultural resources

“There is a substantial administrative task ahead of us, but we are satisfied that we have finally created the conditions for the planned valorisation of our resources. Drvar is endowed with unique natural wealth and valuable cultural and historical heritage that deserves strong and organized promotion,” Runić said.

She emphasized that the work of the Tourist Community will be directly focused on improving the tourist offer, encouraging local entrepreneurship and opening new jobs.

Drvar – from a transit stop to a recognizable destination

“Drvar will no longer be just a stop along the way, but a recognizable destination. Our goal is to make the most of the exceptional potential for adventure tourism, with a special focus on paragliding, which is already placing our region on the international map of extreme sports,” Runić said.

She added that significant potential also exists in the development of hiking, climbing, cycling, and other activities based on the preserved natural environment of Drvar.

Focus on adventure, rural and event tourism

According to her, in the coming period, special attention will be given to:

• adventure and rural tourism – strengthening rural households and natural attractions,
• gastronomy – branding authentic local products,
• event tourism – promotion of cultural and sports events throughout the year.

“We see tourism as a strong driver of development that will unite natural beauty and the rich history of our region into a recognizable brand. This is the beginning of a new development phase for Drvar, for the benefit of all our citizens,” Runić concluded.
