The sound of the gusle will once again be heard on November 9th in Prebilovci, one of the villages that suffered most during World War II, thanks to the “Gusle” Association.
This will be a true celebration for admirers of the oldest Serbian instrument, as the gusle evening marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Cultural Center "Saint King Milutin" in the resurrected Prebilovci.
To honor this grand jubilee, the best gusle players Maksim Vojvodić, Aleksandar Taušan, Srđan Avdalović, Željko Vukčević, Nikola Jeknić, Nikola Krivokapić, and Srđan Vukalović will perform.
The event will also feature ethno singer Maša Vojvodić and host Rade Crnogorac.
"This won’t be an ordinary gusle evening, nor is it taking place in an ordinary location. In sacred Prebilovci, everything is holy and consecrated; our song is a resurrection troparion that will echo to the heavens. We will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Cultural Center in Prebilovci as it deserves – with gusle and the angelic voice of Maša Vojvodić. The gusle are a symbol of our resurrection and will never again disappear from Prebilovci," said representatives from the "Gusle" Association.
Interest in this special evening is already high, as confirmed by the announcement from the Resurrection of Christ Church, noting that the gusle evening will be held in front of the Cultural Center "Saint King Milutin" (weather permitting).
"We have begun preparations for this significant event, and the parking area in front of the center has been expanded," reported representatives from the Church.
The gusle embody an inseparable bond with Serbian history, culture, tradition, customs, and identity, serving as a reminder never to forget events like those that transpired in Prebilovci.
