Through engaging stories, vivid illustrations, and educational content, young readers discover the beauty of the Una River, its rich plant and animal life, and the importance of protecting one of Europe's most remarkable natural treasures.

A Wild Duck Guides Children Through the Magical World of the Una

The main character of the picture book is a Wild Duck from the Una River, who takes children on an adventure along the emerald-green river and introduces them to its breathtaking landscapes.

Along the way, young readers learn about the traditional Una boat, historic watermills, fishing traditions, river birds and fish, as well as the many natural and cultural landmarks that make the Una Valley unique.

The book also presents Una National Park, Una Nature Park, rare plant and animal species, and the traditional way of life of the people who have lived alongside the river for centuries—all in a simple and child-friendly way.

A Picture Book That Inspires Environmental Awareness

More than a collection of entertaining stories, "The Duck from the Una – Una Magic" is an educational tool that teaches children why protecting nature matters.

Each story highlights the importance of clean water, biodiversity, and healthy ecosystems, encouraging young readers to become responsible caretakers of the environment.

According to the author, Želimir Perić, the project's goal is to nurture children's love for their homeland, nature, and cultural heritage.

"If we teach children from an early age how valuable and unique the Una River is, we will take a major step toward its preservation. Love for nature begins with understanding it, and that is precisely the mission of this picture book," Perić told SeeSrpska.

More Than a Book – A Guide to the Natural Heritage of the Una

"The Duck from the Una – Una Magic" is much more than an ordinary picture book. It serves as an educational guide to the natural beauty and cultural heritage of the Una River, intended for children, parents, teachers, and everyone who believes that respect for nature should be nurtured from an early age.

Through this story, children not only discover one of Europe's most beautiful rivers but also develop values that inspire them to become future guardians of nature.

Because the Una is more than just a river—it is a priceless natural treasure that we all share the responsibility to preserve for future generations.
