The city of Derventa is once again preparing for a vibrant summer of culture as the traditional “Prkos Fest 2026” returns with a diverse program designed for audiences of all ages. Organized under the patronage of the City of Derventa, the Cultural Center, and the “Branko Radičević” Public Library, the festival will bring together artists from various creative fields through five major cultural events.
This
year’s edition promises a rich blend of music, theater, literature, and family
entertainment, offering residents and visitors an opportunity to enjoy some of
the finest artistic performances throughout July and early August.
The
festival will officially open on July 1 at 8:30 p.m. with a performance by the
Police Orchestra of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska,
renowned for its energetic concerts and outstanding musical interpretations.
The
program continues on July 7 at 8:30 p.m. with the popular Jazavac City Theatre,
which will present the comedy play “Through Life with Velja.” The production is
expected to deliver an evening filled with laughter, memorable performances,
and quality entertainment.
Literature enthusiasts will also have their moment during the festival.
On July 18 at 8:00
p.m., acclaimed author Kosta Kosovac will host a literary evening and introduce
his award-winning book “Compass for a Halo” (Šestar za oreol), which received
the prestigious Branko Ćopić Foundation Award.
Special
attention has been given to younger audiences as well. On July 29 at 8:30 p.m.,
children will be able to enjoy “The Dragon of Noćaj,” a medieval-themed
knightly evening hosted by popular actor Duško Mazalica, promising a unique and
entertaining experience for families.
The
festival will conclude on August 2 at 8:30 p.m. with a concert by the
Children’s Guitar Orchestra from Brod, bringing the event to a close through
the universal language of youth and music.
“Prkos
Fest” was originally established during one of the most challenging periods for
cultural life, boldly defying the limitations imposed by the pandemic. Its name
is inspired by the historic Prkos House, once a recognizable symbol of Derventa
and a representation of resilience and perseverance—values that continue to
define the festival today.
With a
carefully selected program and a strong commitment to promoting culture, Prkos
Fest 2026 is set to once again become one of the highlights of Derventa’s summer
cultural calendar.
