The Children’s Theatre of Republika Srpska won two awards at the 20th edition of “Pozorište Zvezdarište”, the international children’s theatre festival held in Belgrade from May 15 to 20.
Set designer Berina Šuščević received the Award for Puppet Design for the play “Moon’s Guest”, directed by Nikola Zavišić.
The festival performances were also evaluated by a Children’s Jury, and young audiences awarded their third prize to “Moon’s Guest”, recognizing the outstanding acting ensemble composed of Željko Milićević, Božana Bijelić, Ana Anđelić, Slobodan Perišić and Aleksandar Blanić.
According to the Children’s Theatre of Republika Srpska, this is the second international award for puppet design won by Berina Šuščević, further establishing the theatre’s scenographer among the leading names in European puppetry.
Last year, at the International Theatre Festival in Cluj-Napoca, Berina Šuščević won the Innovation in Puppet Design Award for the play “Once Upon a Time There Was a Lion”, directed by Nikola Bundalo.
“All of this confirms the authentic artistic signature of Berina Šuščević, whose visual mastery also distinguishes the Children’s Theatre as a theatre that strongly pushes the boundaries of contemporary puppetry,” the theatre stated.
