Srđan has been living with muscular dystrophy since the age of seven and uses a wheelchair. Despite the daily challenges he faces, he has never lost his positive spirit or his desire to help others.

He lives modestly with his mother Suzana and younger brother Stefan in the Kokin Grad neighborhood of Prijedor. Neighbors have long spoken about his warmth, generosity, and readiness to offer support to anyone in need.

A Gold Coin That Became a Symbol of Kindness

The story that touched many began two years ago at a Saint Sava Ball, when a young woman found a gold coin while making a purchase and decided to give it to Srđan.

For him, the coin was not just a piece of gold — it became a symbol of the support and compassion he felt from the people around him.

A Selfless Decision

When he saw an online appeal to help Tamara Došen, an international football referee facing a serious illness, Srđan could not remain indifferent.

Although he is fighting his own difficult battle, he decided to sell the gold coin and donate all the money for Tamara’s treatment. His mother took the coin to a jewelry shop, where it was sold for 650 convertible marks (approximately 330 euros). The entire amount was donated for her medical care, exactly as Srđan wished, according to Info Prijedor.

Supported by His Community

Srđan is a fourth-year student at an Electrical Engineering High School, and his family and friends emphasize that he has never been alone in his struggle. His friends regularly visit him, spend time together, and organize activities, showing that true support means standing by someone in both good and difficult times.

For his 19th birthday, with the help of the local Muscular Dystrophy Association, Srđan received a van equipped with a ramp, which has significantly improved his daily mobility and independence.

True Heroes Wear No Capes

This story is not only about charity — it is a powerful reminder that true heroes do not wear capes. They carry big hearts and think of others, even while facing their own hardships.
