Among the top students of the elementary school Sveti Sava Elementary School in Rogatica, whose names were highlighted during the traditional event Days of Student Achievements, ninth-grade student Katarina Pešić stood out as an inspiring example of how academic excellence, sports achievements and community engagement can go hand in hand.
The outstanding student was awarded the
prestigious Vuk Karadžić Diploma and crowned her elementary school journey by
being named Student of the Generation.
Speaking about her future plans, Katarina said
there was never any doubt about continuing her education.
“I decided to enroll in the grammar school
program at the Secondary School Center 27 January. Later, I will decide which
career path to pursue. Throughout elementary school, everything went smoothly.
I devoted a little more time to history and geography, but I completed all nine
years with a perfect 5.0 grade average,” she said.
In addition to maintaining outstanding academic results, Katarina dedicated a significant part of her time to sports and social activities.
“When everything is taken into account, I
believe that this recognition was also influenced by my achievements in sports
and my involvement with the Red Cross. I have practiced karate since childhood
and hold a blue belt. In recent years, I have focused more on athletics,
competing in the 100-meter sprint and long jump. My personal best in the 100
meters is 12.5 seconds, while my long jump record stands at 5.10 meters,” Katarina
explained.
During her school years, she participated in
numerous school, municipal, regional and republic-level competitions, including
the Little Olympic Games.
“So far, I have won 51 medals, including 25
gold, 19 silver and seven bronze medals. I have also received numerous trophies
and awards that I am very proud of. These achievements motivate me to continue
pursuing athletics, now in the younger junior category,” she said.
Alongside her academic and sporting
commitments, Katarina is an active member of the Red Cross Rogatica, where she
participates in a variety of humanitarian activities and first-aid
competitions.
Her story demonstrates that dedication,
discipline and a willingness to help others can lead to success both inside and
outside the classroom, making her a role model for young people in Rogatica and
beyond.
