Bijeljina is preparing for a brand-new event that will combine adventure, recreation, sport and socialising, as the first-ever „Semberian Boat“ Regatta is set to take place on the Dašnica Canal on August 16, 2026.
The
event will offer participants and visitors an opportunity to experience one of
Bijeljina's waterways from a completely different perspective, with boats,
kayaks and canoes taking to the water for a day of outdoor fun and adventure.
The
regatta will start in Puhare at 10:00 AM, while the finish and the closing
programme are scheduled for 6:00 PM at the plateau near the city's new fire
station.
Participants
can take part with inflatable boats, canoes and kayaks, provided that the vessels
are powered exclusively by oars. The use of electric or petrol-powered outboard
motors will not be permitted.
The
programme will also include a competitive 300-metre race, with individual times
measured for each participant as they complete the designated distance.
Participation is limited, and registration is mandatory.
Those
interested can register by calling 065/665-447, with applications open until
August 12, 2026.
The
event is organised by the „Iskra“ Radio Club, with the City of Bijeljina's Civil
Protection Department and the Tourist Organisation of the City of Bijeljina
serving as co-organisers.
The
first „Semberian Boat“ Regatta is expected to add a new dimension to
Bijeljina's events calendar, promoting the Dašnica Canal as a space for outdoor
activities, recreation and community gatherings.
The
organisers have also announced that changes to the programme may be made in the
event of unfavourable weather conditions.
With
its combination of water, sport and adventure, the inaugural regatta offers an
opportunity for both locals and visitors to discover a different side of
Bijeljina and enjoy a day on the water.
