Residents of Banja Luka have once again demonstrated their strong sense of solidarity, raising nearly 23,000 KM for large families through a humanitarian campaign organized by Srbi za Srbe.
The initiative, titled “Donuts from the
Block,” was held across 15 locations throughout the city. In the spirit of the
upcoming Easter—a time symbolizing hope, renewal, and the resurrection of
Christ—citizens gathered in large numbers to support the cause.
During the Palm Sunday celebrations,
churchyards and monastery grounds across the largest city of Republika Srpska
were filled with believers, families, and volunteers. The festive atmosphere
was complemented by the aroma of freshly prepared donuts, which were shared
with visitors in exchange for voluntary donations.
Organizers emphasized that such actions would not be possible without the dedication of numerous volunteers, as well as the support of local clergy, who once again opened the doors of churches and gave their blessing for the event.
Special thanks were extended to members of
cultural associations KUD Pelagić and KUD Čajavec, whose volunteers played a
key role in the campaign. Gratitude was also expressed to Žitopeka, whose
donuts were an essential part of the initiative.
From Vrbanja to Derviši, citizens across the
city on the Vrbas River united in generosity, contributing funds to support
families in need ahead of the Easter holidays.
It is worth noting that more than 1,000volunteers from the Srbi za Srbe organization managed to produce over 100,000
donuts in less than 24 hours. These were distributed in front of more than 100
churches across Serbia, Republika Srpska, and Montenegro during the Vrbica and
Palm Sunday celebrations, with all collected funds intended to support families
in Kosovo and Metohija.
