Dragoslav Šinik, president of the Association for Assistance to Persons with Intellectual Disabilities in Gradiška, is widely known as a man with a big heart. Now, he is preparing for another extraordinary humanitarian challenge aimed at helping members of the association.

DRAGOSLAV ŠINIK TO ROW FROM BELGRADE TO GRADIŠKA IN A WOODEN BOAT FOR A HUMANITARIAN CAUSE

At the end of August, Šinik plans to set off in a wooden boat and row upstream along the Sava River, from Belgrade to Gašnica near Gradiška, covering a distance of 478 kilometres.

"I will set off at the end of August in a wooden boat, rowing upstream along the Sava from Belgrade to Gašnica near Gradiška. The journey will cover 478 kilometres, and my goal is to raise funds to purchase a van for transporting members of the Association for Assistance to Persons with Intellectual Disabilities," Šinik told RTRS.

"WE ARE ALL PART OF YOU"

Šinik plans to begin his journey on August 25, relying solely on a paddle. He estimates that the demanding expedition will last between 30 and 40 days.

During the journey, he will also carry invitations to the seventh International Gathering of Children and Young People with Disabilities, "We Are All Part of You", which will be held from June 18 to 20, 2027, in Gašnica.

The humanitarian campaign aims to raise funds for the purchase of a new van that will enable safer and more reliable transportation for members of the Association for Assistance to Persons with Intellectual Disabilities in Gradiška.

Šinik's journey along the Sava is more than a personal sporting challenge. It is an appeal for solidarity and support for people with disabilities, with the goal of providing them with better conditions and greater mobility in their everyday lives.
