BANJALUKA AWAITS RESULTS ON ADVANCING TO THE FINAL ROUND FOR THE TITLE OF "EUROPEAN YOUTH CAPITAL 2028"

This was confirmed by Danijela Kajkut, the authorized representative from the Department for Social Affairs, who reminded that the results will be announced on April 2.

“We have actively worked on preparing the application, thanks to which the City of Banjaluka is now among 12 cities from 11 European countries competing for the title of European Youth Capital 2028. The significance of this candidacy lies in promoting Banjaluka and its natural beauty, as well as the numerous infrastructure projects that have enriched and enhanced our city’s offerings. Through the promotion gained from this candidacy, we are encouraging more young people to visit Banjaluka and explore the opportunities this city has to offer,” said Kajkut.

She further explained that advancing to the final round would bring Banjaluka one step closer to gaining access to certain European funds. These funds could be used for implementing significant youth projects, such as equipping a youth resource center and enhancing existing youth support programs initiated by the City of Banjaluka.

“We can truly be proud that the European Youth Forum has recognized Banjaluka as a city with the potential to hold this prestigious title. The city administration, led by Mayor Stanivuković, is dedicated to developing youth policies aimed at creating an environment where young people will choose to stay, build their futures, and contribute to the community and society as a whole. We have also actively worked on improving public spaces for young people, such as the Youth Center. If we win the title of European Youth Capital, we will be able to further strengthen and enhance all our programs, which is why we are eager to advance to the final round,” Kajkut concluded.

It is important to note that, thanks to the active efforts of the Department for Social Affairs, in collaboration with the NGO Perpetuum Mobile – Institute for Youth and Community Development, the European Youth Forum accepted the candidacy of the largest city in Republika Srpska in the race for the title of European Youth Capital 2028.
