OLDTIMERS IN PALE EVOKE MEMORIES OF A BYGONE ERA

The event featured around 40 classic cars, with enthusiasts arriving from across Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and beyond. Igor Vukašinović from Pale expressed his satisfaction with both the turnout and the atmosphere surrounding the parade and exhibition.

“We have 40 cars. A Ford Taunus arrived from Hungary, while we also have guests from Subotica, Mostar, Kakanj, Goražde and Sarajevo. The oldest car is a Jaguar. Unfortunately, a 70-year-old Opel Olympia broke down on the way and could not make it to Pale, while a Rolls-Royce could not be started. It will be even better next year,” Vukašinović said.

Among the unusual vehicles on display was an Alfa Romeo 146 with a 1.7-liter boxer engine, brought by Predrag Blagojević from East Sarajevo. According to Blagojević, this is a rare example even in the Balkans and Italy.

“This gathering has been wonderfully organized, and the social atmosphere is excellent. Pale truly deserves an event like this — I would even call it a spectacle,” Blagojević said.

Zdravko Vidović, president of the Oldtimer Club Mostar, said his club was dedicated not only to preserving classic vehicles but also to bringing people together through friendship, culture and shared interests.

“Our desire is to promote friendship, socializing and culture wherever we go. We are pioneers in bringing people together in the Balkans, and Pale is an ideal place for that,” Vidović said.

The Pale oldtimer gathering once again demonstrated that classic cars are much more than valuable pieces of automotive history. For their owners and admirers, they represent memories, tradition and a way of connecting generations and people from different parts of the region.
