Bijeljina-based street artist Marija Tica Kovačević has begun painting the mural on the façade of the gymnasium at the Sveti Sava Primary School in Lopare.

The artwork is being created as part of the Park Fest Majevica festival and is expected to be completed before the festival begins.

Tica Kovačević is the founder and driving force behind the Meraki Mural Fest in Bijeljina and has created numerous notable murals across the region, including works on the old school building in Priboj. Through her distinctive artistic style, she is creating a piece that is expected to further enrich the public space of Lopare.

The mural also carries a special connection to the natural heritage of Majevica. Several years ago, European deer were reintroduced to the mountain after disappearing from the area during the war. A total of 24 deer were released into the forests of Majevica, marking an important step in restoring the species to its former habitat.

Organizers say the completed mural will be presented to visitors during Park Fest Majevica, which will be held from August 21 to 23.

The combination of contemporary street art and local natural heritage is expected to give the festival another distinctive attraction while highlighting the importance of preserving the region's wildlife and landscapes.
