BANJALUKA OPENS A NEW OPEN-AIR AMPHITHEATRE WITH MORE THAN 600 SEATS

A new open-air amphitheatre with more than 600 seats has officially been opened near the Faculty of Law in Banjaluka, creating a modern space intended for gatherings, education, culture and social events.

The opening ceremony was attended by Banjaluka Mayor Draško Stanivuković, who described the project as another important step in the city's development and the creation of attractive public spaces.

According to him, the area, located next to the University of Banjaluka and the Vrbas River, had remained unused for years before being transformed into a multifunctional complex.

“This place is unique for two reasons. First, it is located near the beautiful Vrbas River and the university campus. Second, there were plans to turn it into something entirely different. We acted at the right moment and created a space dedicated to science, culture and public speaking,” Stanivuković said.

A new gathering place in Banjaluka

The new amphitheatre is part of a larger complex that includes cycling paths, jogging trails, a children's playground and additional urban facilities. The entire area covers around 15,000 square metres and is expected to become one of the city's most popular meeting points.

The mayor also announced that a memorial dedicated to students and professors of the University of Banjaluka who lost their lives during the creation of the Republic of Srpska would be erected within the next month.

Culture and education in the heart of the city

The opening ceremony featured a speech by Professor Miloš Kovačević from Belgrade, followed by the performance Pushkin. Cases, produced by the Russian Theatre of Belgrade.

The play offers a contemporary interpretation of selected works by the renowned Russian writer Alexander Pushkin through modern stage expression and acting.

A new symbol of the city

The amphitheatre is intended for students, professors, families and all citizens who wish to spend time outdoors in a pleasant environment.

In the future, it will host concerts, public lectures, theatre performances, book promotions and numerous cultural events, further strengthening Banjaluka's reputation as a city of culture, education and public life.
