CROWDS GATHER IN A HUMANITARIAN ACTION OF THE “DELIJE” FOUNDATION

As part of the 9th Christmas Charity Campaign of the “Delije” Foundation, a theatrical performance titled “Like Stone – Velenka Brstinova and Her Daughter Dragana” was held on January 11, 2026, at the City Theatre “Jazavac” in Banja Luka. The performance was delivered by renowned actress Ljiljana Čekić.

Prior to the play, a ceremonial program was organized during which representatives of eight units of the Army of the Republic of Srpska were welcomed. A special segment of the program featured artist Jelena Živković Kostić, who performed four patriotic songs.

During the event, the Association of the 1st Battalion of the Military Police of the First Krajina Corps of the Army of the Republic of Srpska presented a Plaque to a representative of the “Delije” Foundation, recognizing its contribution to preserving tradition and assisting in the reconstruction of homes for veterans of this battalion.

Through her powerful performance, emotional depth, and the strength of her words, Ljiljana Čekić successfully conveyed tragedy and suffering, as well as the resilience and spirit of the Serbian people.

The performance was attended by a large audience, who rewarded the actress with prolonged and emotional applause at the end, acknowledging the strong impression she left on stage.

The Christmas Charity Campaign is being carried out in more than 30 municipalities and cities across the Republic of Srpska. All proceeds from ticket sales for this performance, as well as from other events within the Christmas Campaign, will be directed through the “Delije” Foundation to families of war veterans and disabled veterans of the Army of the Republic of Srpska and the Republic of Serbian Krajina who are in difficult financial situations, as well as to Serbian families in Kosovo and Metohija facing financial hardship.

Over the past eight years, more than 340 war veterans with disabilities and their families have received assistance through this humanitarian initiative.
