PLIVA WATERFALL – A NATURAL WONDER IN THE HEART OF JAJCE

The Pliva Waterfall is believed to have been formed around 50,000 years ago and remains just as beautiful and magnificent today. It is located in the heart of the former royal town of Jajce, at the confluence of the Pliva and Vrbas rivers.

The tufa rocks over which the waters of the Pliva cascade to create the waterfall have been captured and preserved on some of the oldest postcards, helping to make the town world-famous. The Pliva Waterfall in Jajce stands 22.2 meters high, while the rapids, cascades, lakes, and waterfalls along the Pliva River represent rare hydrological phenomena and important tourist attractions.

Regardless of the reason for visiting Jajce, the waterfall is an unmissable landmark and the main reason most tourists come to the town.

Every year, on the first Saturday of August, the traditional “International Waterfall Diving Competition” is held. Breathtaking natural beauty, a variety of cultural and sporting events, and excellent accommodation options make Jajce one of the most visited tourist destinations in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
