Accompanied by a few friends, Marić embarked on an exploration of this insufficiently studied cave, whose entrance eluded even Italian speleologists who visited Višegrad in 2019.

“The most persistent in searching for the cave was our fellow citizen Goran Suslovski. With the help of a local resident, Ahmed Hanić, who remembered its location after nearly 40 years, Suslovski managed to find the entrance and subsequently explored a significant part of it,” Marić said.

This success inspired them to embark on a new adventure and discover the hidden beauties of this location.

“We managed to explore all the accessible chambers of the cave that can be visited without significant risk, specialized equipment, or expert knowledge. From our initial impressions, Propastva has all the characteristics of a richly adorned cave with large dimensions, multiple halls, and narrow tunnels between them, which make it even more attractive,” Marić explained.

He highlighted that the cave is decorated with stalactites, stalagmites, columns, and rimstone pools, and features a beautiful lake with crystal clear water that never dries up.

“Our goal is to spark public interest, improve access routes, thoroughly explore and protect the cave, and create a unique tourist offering in Višegrad for adventurous active tourism enthusiasts,” Marić emphasized.

Propastva Cave was first mentioned in Aziz Rusulbegović’s book “Višegrad and Surroundings,” published in 1934, and later in Milan Kodžo’s book “Višegrad in the Serbian and Bosnian Medieval State,” published in 2003.
