In Bileća, flower planting has begun with the aim of improving the appearance of the town center and making the city streets more attractive.
Around thirty students from the Agricultural School and the Eco Section are taking part in the activity together with their teachers. For the Agricultural School students, this activity is also part of their practical training, giving them the opportunity to apply their acquired knowledge in practice.
Students Contribute to a Better City Appearance
“I am very glad to be taking part in this activity today with my friends so that we can contribute together to improving the appearance of our town center. I believe this initiative will be important for a more beautiful and organized municipality. It is the least we can do for the place where we live, and I am especially pleased that in the coming summer months we will be sending a nicer image from Bileća’s streets,” said Vladimir Ilić, a high school student.
Importance of Environmental Awareness
A teacher from the Secondary School Center “Golub Kureš,” Jelena Popara, emphasized that this is a very important activity.
“Through such actions, young people develop awareness of the importance of environmental protection, as well as a responsible attitude toward the community in which they live. It is important for students to develop habits from an early age that contribute to the maintenance and preservation of their environment, as such activities have a strong educational and formative role,” she said.
City Landscaping Plans
The spring city beautification campaign is being implemented by the Department for Spatial Planning and Municipal Affairs of the Municipality of Bileća, in cooperation with the Public Utility Company.
Milica Drašković, an environmental protection associate in the Municipality of Bileća, stated that the plan is to plant annual flowers during the spring beautification campaign to further enhance the city’s appearance.
“It is planned that two areas in the city center will be planted with different types of ornamental plants. On one side, near the municipal building, annual begonia seedlings will be planted, while on the other side 31 lagerstroemia seedlings, also known as Indian lilac, are planned. In the coming period, the area with annual plantings will be further landscaped and enriched with perennial shrubs,” Drašković said.
A Greener and More Beautiful Bileća
With this initiative, Bileća is gaining not only a more organized appearance but also another example of how joint efforts can create a more beautiful living environment.
