Representatives of cities and municipalities from the Birač region, together with the Bijeljina Regional Chamber of Commerce, have signed a cooperation agreement aimed at unifying and strengthening the area’s tourism offer.
The
Minister of Trade and Tourism of Republika Srpska, Ned Puhovac, who attended
the signing ceremony, emphasized that the Government will continue to support
such initiatives.
“This
is an important step toward placing this region firmly on the tourism map of
Republika Srpska and this part of Europe. The potential this area holds is
enormous—it just needs to be utilized and institutionally adapted to current
needs,” Puhovac said.
Zvornik
Mayor Bojan Ivanović highlighted that each local community possesses unique
tourism assets, including cultural and historical heritage as well as natural
resources, which are still not being fully utilized.
“Over
the past year, we have been working more intensively to bring these potentials
into function,” Ivanović noted.
He added that the true value of the agreement lies in joint promotion, as no single municipality can independently create a sufficiently competitive tourism offer.
“The
cooperation of these local communities is a prerequisite for tourism
development and for boosting the overall growth of the Birač region,” Ivanović
said.
Branimir
Andrić, President of the Bijeljina Regional Chamber of Commerce, explained that
the initiative for cooperation originated from the Chamber, with the goal of
mapping the region’s tourism potential and presenting it more clearly on the
international tourism market.
He
stressed that this initiative is expected to significantly contribute to the
economic development of the Birač region, particularly by increasing tourism
revenues, a sector with strong growth potential.
