The Municipality of Pale has announced a public call for the development of a conceptual design for a new riverside promenade and cycling path with accompanying facilities along the Paljanska Miljacka River.
The
competition is open to individuals, informal groups, citizen associations,
students, academic staff, architectural and landscape design firms, as well as
other interested legal entities and independent professionals from across
Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The
project aims to transform the riverbank area into a functional, visually
appealing, and sustainable public space that will provide residents with
opportunities for recreation, relaxation, and social activities. Planned
features include the integration of pedestrian and cycling routes with the
surrounding environment, the development of green areas, and the installation
of urban furniture and public amenities.
The
project area extends along approximately five kilometers of the Paljanska
Miljacka River, stretching from the Jahorinski Potok settlement through
Obilićevo, Škobalji, and the center of Pale, all the way to the Stanica
neighborhood.
Participants are required to submit both textual and graphic components of their proposals. The written section should include a concept explanation, functional organization of the space, proposed materials and urban furniture, as well as a landscaping and horticultural plan.
The graphic section should contain site plans, floor plans, cross-sections, technical details, and 3D visualizations.
Submitted
proposals will be evaluated based on originality, innovation, aesthetic
quality, integration with the surrounding environment, functionality, and
sustainability.
The
deadline for submitting questions regarding the competition is August 4, 2026,
while completed proposals must be submitted no later than August 14, 2026, at
2:00 p.m.
A
prize of 4,000 BAM has been allocated for the best conceptual design, and the
winning proposal will become the property of the Municipality of Pale.
Following the completion of the competition, all submitted works will be
publicly presented.
Through
this initiative, local authorities aim to create a modern and attractive
riverside zone that will enhance the quality of life for residents while
promoting outdoor activities and sustainable urban development.
