Meteorologist Milica Đorđević told RTRS that temperatures will gradually increase from midweek, first reaching around 34°C (93°F), then rising to 35–38°C (95–100°F), with some areas expected to hit 40°C (104°F).

According to her, the second major heatwave of the summer could last between seven and ten days.

Local Storms Possible, But No Significant Rain

Despite the intense heat, isolated thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds and hail are possible. However, these will be short-lived and localized, meaning they are unlikely to ease the ongoing drought or bring significant rainfall.

Higher Wildfire Risk

Đorđević warned that the effects of the drought are already being felt in agriculture, while the continuation of extremely high temperatures will increase the risk of wildfires, particularly in the Herzegovina region.

She urged residents to rely only on official weather forecasts and meteorological services, rather than sensationalist reports circulating on social media.

Meteorologists also advise people to avoid spending time outdoors during the hottest part of the day, stay well hydrated, and adjust daily activities to the extreme temperatures.
