THE KARAĐORĐEVIĆS IN TREBINJE: “WE ALWAYS RETURN TO HERZEGOVINA”

Crown Prince Filip and Princess Danica Karađorđević spent several days on holiday in Trebinje and Herzegovina, sharing impressions from their trip with their followers on social media.

During their stay, they visited some of Herzegovina’s most important religious sites, met with friends, and enjoyed the region’s nature and landscapes - a place they say they are always happy to return to.

“We spent several wonderful days in our beloved Trebinje and Herzegovina, a place we always return to with special joy,” Filip and Danica said.

A VISIT TO TVRDOŠ AND A MEMORY OF BISHOP ATANASIJE

One of their first stops was Tvrdoš Monastery, where they paid their respects and prayed at the grave of the late Bishop Atanasije.

The region also holds a special personal memory for the couple, as Bishop Atanasije was the one who welcomed them during their first visit to Trebinje.

During their visit, they also met with Abbot Sava.

FROM HERZEGOVINA GRAČANICA TO PETROPAVLOV MONASTERY

Filip and Danica also visited the Herzegovina Gračanica Monastery, where they attended the Divine Liturgy served by Metropolitan Dimitrije of Zahumlje and Herzegovina and Primorje.

Their journey also took them to Petropavlov Monastery, which, they say, holds a special place in their family’s life.

“We are once again delighted to meet the sisterhood of this holy place, who always welcome us with great love and warmth,” they said.

Alongside visits to religious sites and meetings with dear friends, Filip and Danica expressed their admiration for the natural beauty of Herzegovina.

“Herzegovina holds a special place in our hearts. Its magnificent landscapes, rich nature, stone, mountains, vineyards, and the waters of the Trebišnjica and Sušica rivers make it one of the most beautiful, richest and most distinctive regions in our part of the world,” they wrote.

They particularly emphasised that the beauty of the region should be protected and cherished for generations to come.

“This beauty is not only a gift we admire, but also a heritage that we have a duty to preserve, nurture and proudly pass on to future generations,” Filip and Danica said.

Judging by their photographs and words, Trebinje and Herzegovina are more than just a holiday destination for Crown Prince Filip and Princess Danica. They are a place they return to for faith, memories, friendships and a special sense of belonging.
