Derventa once again joined cities around the world in marking International Rare Disease Day, aiming to raise awareness about the challenges faced by patients and their families.
On
this occasion, users of the Center for Children and Youth with Developmental
Disabilities “Budućnost” distributed informational leaflets to citizens,
drawing public attention to the importance of understanding, support, and
inclusion for people living with rare diseases.
The program continued at the National Library “Branko Radičević”, where an inclusive workshop was held.
Through joint activities, participants sent a strong message of solidarity and equal opportunities for all.
In a
show of support for those affected by rare diseases, representatives of the
local government joined the solidarity walk, led by Mayor Igor Žunić. Together
with his associates, he contributed to marking this important date and
expressed support for members of this vulnerable group.
International
Rare Disease Day is observed on February 29 — symbolically chosen because it
appears rarely in the calendar, just like the diseases described as rare. The
goal of the observance is to raise awareness, improve diagnosis and treatment,
and provide stronger support to patients and their families.
