The renowned гастрonomy platform TasteAtlas has released its latest ranking of the world’s top-rated cured beef products, placing a traditional Bosnian delicacy firmly at the top.
According
to the April 2026 list titled “10 Best Cured Beef,” traditional dried beef from
Bosnia and Herzegovina has been ranked as the best in the world among cured
beef specialties.
TasteAtlas
describes the Bosnian delicacy as a product made by salting, drying, and smoking
beef over oak wood. The preparation requires precision and expertise, as the
meat must not become overly dry. The platform emphasizes that the knowledge and
techniques involved are typically passed down through generations, preserving
the authenticity of the tradition.
The meat is traditionally seasoned with garlic or pepper, enhancing its rich and distinctive flavor.
With a
rating of 4.4, the Bosnian specialty outperformed several globally recognized
delicacies. Spain’s Cecina de León and Bulgaria’s Pastarma govezhda shared
second and third place with scores of 4.2, while Italy’s Bresaola ranked fourth
with a rating of 4.1.
The
list also includes a variety of traditional products from around the world,
such as Turkey’s Pastirma, Canada’s Montreal-style smoked meat, as well as
regional specialties like Zlatibor and Užice prosciutto from Serbia. Another
Bosnian product, Visočka pečenica, secured ninth place with a rating of 3.9.
TasteAtlas
notes that the rankings are based on reviews from both users and experts,
supported by mechanisms designed to filter out unreliable or biased ratings.
The goal of these lists, the platform adds, is not to deliver a final verdict
on food quality, but to promote local specialties and preserve culinary
traditions worldwide.
