The Rural Development Network in Bosnia and Herzegovina, within the framework of the “From Field to Table” project, has awarded prizes for the best ideas and initiatives aimed at promoting sustainable agriculture, rural development, and environmental protection.
The
initiative seeks to recognize and highlight successful models and practices
that contribute to a more sustainable future in rural communities. Among the
top three ideas in the field of sustainable agriculture and rural development
is a project by Bojana Nešković, whose family has long been engaged in seedling
production.
Through
the “From Field to Table” project, Nešković plans to build an eco village in
Bratunac, focused on traditional, domestic, and locally sourced products.
“I
have started building an eco village where everything will be traditional,
homemade, and local. When you say Bratunac, it will be recognized for Eco
Village Nešković. I am grateful to the Rural Development Network for
recognizing what my family and I have been doing for years,” Nešković said.
The highest-rated project in the field of sustainable agriculture and rural development was presented by the Network of Young Agro-Entrepreneurs, which gathers more than 300 members and focuses on connecting young people who are returning to rural areas.
Representatives
of the Rural Development Network in Bosnia and Herzegovina noted that the
number of applicants for the available grants was lower than expected,
expressing hope for greater interest in future calls.
“It is
encouraging to have moments like these, where initiatives that contribute to
environmental protection, biodiversity preservation, and the activation of
young people in rural areas can be recognized and supported,” said Duško
Cvjetinović from the Rural Development Network.
In the
field of environmental protection, the award was given to the project “Bees
Mean Life,” developed by the Sapna Primary School.
