OZREN WILL ECHO WITH THE SOUND OF SCYTHES AND TRADITION ON MAY 31

On the slopes of Mount Ozren, more precisely at the estate of Drago Šajinović in Kakmuž-Volujak, the traditional event “Ozren Scything Festival” will be held on May 31, 2026.

The event is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m., and organized by the Cultural and Artistic Society “Kakmuž,” it promises a return to tradition and a celebration of hard work, heritage, and folk customs.

The Ozren Scything Festival is not just a competition, but also an opportunity for social gathering and preserving the rich cultural heritage of this region. Visitors will have the chance to watch skilled scythemen compete in speed and technique while enjoying the breathtaking landscapes of Ozren.

The promotional visuals feature young people dressed in traditional folk costumes, further emphasizing the folkloric and cultural spirit of the event. The scythe symbolizes traditional labor, while the clay jug carried by the young woman represents refreshment during the demanding fieldwork.

The organizers have prepared a full experience for both participants and visitors. Valuable prizes have been secured for the best scythemen, and after the competition, a communal lunch and social gathering are planned. Through music, stories, and shared moments, participants will celebrate a successful day and strengthen the spirit of togetherness.
