Petrovo Mayor Ozren Petković, who officially opened the event, expressed satisfaction with the variety of products on display and the strong response from exhibitors. He also highlighted the growing interest among young people in agricultural production.

“We are also witnessing a rise in the market value of agricultural products, particularly healthy, locally produced organic food,” Petković told reporters.

Organised by the “Petrovo” Centre for Information, Culture and Sport and the local Tourism Organisation, the event takes place at Nemanjic Square, with support from the municipality and sponsors.

Slađana Lazarević, director of the “Petrovo” Centre for Information, Culture and Sport, said that what began as an initiative to promote local products had grown into a regional gathering that brings producers together and encourages the exchange of experience.

TRADITIONAL CHEESE AND HOMEMADE SPECIALTIES

Among the exhibitors was Dragić Đuranović from Kakmuž, who presented a variety of flavoured cheeses seasoned with hot peppers, black pepper, sesame and garlic. According to him, garlic cheese is particularly popular with customers.

Đuranović also makes a special type of caramel cheese to order, which is considerably more expensive than his other varieties.

He noted that events such as “Ozrenska jesen” provide an excellent opportunity to meet customers directly, although he usually sells his products from home.

HANDMADE DECORATIONS AND HOMEMADE NOODLES

Nataša Ješić from Ugljevik showcased decorative handmade items as well as homemade noodles, which appeal to both older and younger customers.

“The main ingredients are homemade eggs and a little skill,” Ješić said, expressing satisfaction that naturally produced homemade food is becoming increasingly popular again.

CELEBRATING THE TRADITIONS OF PETROVO

“Ozrenska jesen” is held as part of the celebrations marking Miholjdan, the patron saint’s day and municipal celebration of Petrovo, observed on 12 October.

Through its promotion of local producers, traditional crafts and homemade food, the event provides an opportunity to showcase the region’s cultural heritage and agricultural potential while bringing together exhibitors and visitors from across the Doboj area.
