The new Krčmarice recreational zone, which is home to Banja Luka’s first dinosaur park, has the potential to become another major tourist attraction in the city on the Vrbas River. With facilities for relaxation, recreation and enjoying nature, the area could become an important part of the city’s tourism offer for visitors from across Bosnia and Herzegovina and the wider region.
This was stated by Milada Šukalo, Project Manager for the
City of Banja Luka, who highlighted that one of the key goals for the further
development of the site is to expand the city’s tourism offer and provide
visitors with more reasons to extend their stay.
PLANS FOR FURTHER DEVELOPMENT
“Banja Luka is welcoming an increasing number of visitors,
and this is a trend that makes us happy. As for the Krčmarice recreational
zone, only the first phase has been completed so far. Our next step is to
further develop the site in line with the project, build a parking area and
introduce additional facilities that will encourage visitors to stay longer and
explore more parts of the city,” Šukalo said.
She added that Krčmarice, together with the facilities
developed along the Vrbas River and on Banj Hill, could become an important
part of a more diverse tourism offer.
The idea is to connect different natural, recreational and
excursion destinations into a more comprehensive visitor experience, allowing
tourists to discover Banja Luka beyond its central urban area.
MORE REASONS TO STAY IN BANJA LUKA
“We want to offer visitors enough different activities to
spend not just a few hours in Banja Luka, but an entire day or even several
days. That is why we are developing new locations and working to transform the
natural assets we have into well-maintained and attractive places for
recreation and leisure,” Šukalo explained.
Krčmarice is also expected to become part of the itineraries
offered by travel agencies, potentially attracting more organised group visits
from across the Republic of Srpska and the wider region.
BALANCED DEVELOPMENT ACROSS THE CITY
Beyond its tourism potential, the project also plays an
important role in promoting balanced development across different parts of
Banja Luka and improving the quality of life for residents of suburban and
rural communities.
“Banja Luka covers a large area, and it is important to us
that development is not concentrated exclusively in the city centre. We want
suburban and rural communities to benefit from well-maintained public spaces
and new facilities, while ensuring that these locations are attractive enough
to draw visitors from other parts of Banja Luka and from outside the city,”
Šukalo stressed.
With further improvements and the introduction of new
facilities, Krčmarice is expected to complement Banja Luka’s network of
excursion and recreational destinations, contributing to a more diverse and
attractive tourism offer.
