Organized by the Centar za kulturu i informisanje Foča, a series of educational workshops titled “Journalism and Media Literacy” has officially begun, aimed at upper-grade primary school students.
The workshops are part of a broader project symbolically named “50 Years of Radio Foča – The Voice of the Community, A Heritage That Endures,” financially supported by the Ministarstvo civilnih poslova Bosne i Hercegovine.
This initiative is being implemented in a landmark year marking half a century of the existence of Radio Foča, one of the most important local media outlets in the municipality.
Primary School Students Learn the Basics of Journalism and Media Literacy
The goal of the project is to introduce students from grades 6 to 9 of both primary schools in Foča to the fundamentals of journalism, the role of modern media, and the importance of media literacy in the digital age.
Special emphasis is placed on developing critical thinking skills and helping students understand how media operate, create content, and influence the public.
From Theory to Studio Practice
The concept of the workshops is designed to gradually guide participants from theoretical foundations of journalism to practical studio work, where they will have the opportunity to learn about the process of preparing and producing radio programs.
By involving primary school students in these activities, the Center for Culture and Information Foča aims to bring the significance of local media closer to younger generations and inspire future journalists who will continue a tradition spanning five decades.
