BIG START BRINGS JOY AND SMILES TO BANJA LUKA SCHOOLCHILDREN

A large number of smiling schoolchildren, a cheerful atmosphere, music, dancing, games, surprises and various activities marked the central event of the “Veliki početak” (“Big Start”) manifestation, held on the plateau near Mladen Stojanović Park in Banja Luka.

The event offered a wide range of activities for schoolchildren, while the atmosphere was enhanced by singer Sergej Pajić, YouTubers Šmiga and Novke, the band Yasserstein with its educational programme “Nemoj biti taj lik” (“Don’t Be That Guy”), and the Gema Dance Club.

GIFTS, SURPRISES AND BALLOONS

The youngest participants were particularly excited by the numerous gifts and surprises. The traditional release of balloons carrying gifts was once again one of the most attractive parts of the programme.

Banja Luka schoolchildren had the opportunity to win valuable prizes, including laptops, smartwatches, bicycles and scooters, as well as school supplies and other equipment needed for the new school year.

A MESSAGE THAT SCHOOL IS NOT SOMETHING TO FEAR

Milada Šukalo, Project Manager of the City of Banja Luka, said that the city has been organising the manifestation for the fifth consecutive year to mark the beginning of the new school year.

“This is an event where we look back at everything we have accomplished. We are not investing only in school buildings, but also in various measures and programmes. We want these measures to be continuous and to provide children with functional and lifelong education. This manifestation sends an important message – school is not something to fear, but a new year in which they can make progress in their knowledge and skills,” Šukalo said.

EDUCATION, SPORT AND ENTERTAINMENT

In addition to the entertainment programme, schoolchildren had the opportunity to take part in various educational workshops focusing on traffic safety, first aid, creative activities and other interesting topics.

This year's “Veliki početak” manifestation began on August 29 with the “Korak šampiona” (“Step of Champions”) sports tournament.

The programme continued on Saturday with the “Velika banjalučka Kasperijada”, as well as the opening of a new pump track in the city park near Delta Planet shopping centre.

OFFICIAL END OF THE MANIFESTATION ON SEPTEMBER 1

The manifestation will officially conclude on September 1, when representatives of the City of Banja Luka will visit schools across the city.

The goal of “Veliki početak” is to welcome schoolchildren into the new school year in the best possible way, while creating a positive atmosphere before their return to the classroom through socialising, games, sports and educational activities.
