The premiere of the documentary film “Children of Bradina,” directed by Stevan Salatić, will take place on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at the Cultural Center Banski dvor in Banja Luka.
The
screening will be held in the Grand Hall starting at 8 p.m.
The
documentary brings deeply emotional testimonies about the horrors of war seen
through the eyes of children who are now grown adults. Through personal
stories, the film speaks about unhealed wounds, lost childhoods, and the tragic
fate of a village that no longer exists.
The film also features testimonies from two wartime doctors who were imprisoned in the Čelebići camp.
They recount their efforts to care for wounded and tortured
prisoners, as well as the experiences of three groups of surviving men who,
after the burning of the village, managed to cross the harsh mountains of
Igman, Bjelašnica, and Prenj to reach territory controlled by the Army of
Republika Srpska.

Today, Bradina is just a place people pass on the road to the sea without even
thinking that anyone ever lived there. But when you look at the plaque with 88
names, you realize there truly was life there – Salatić said.
The
author expressed special gratitude to the young people from Bradina who, for
the first time, found the strength to share their stories with the world —
stories about losing loved ones, growing up without parents, life in exile, and
overcoming tragedy.
–
Those people are heroes to me, and this film belongs to them just as much as it
belongs to me – Salatić emphasized.
