The municipality of Višegrad has launched its spring beautification efforts as part of the "April - Month of Cleanliness" initiative. Led by the municipal authorities, the campaign aims to clean and spruce up public spaces, streets, promenades, main and regional roads, and eradicate illegal dumping sites.
Milica Stančić, the head of the municipal Department of Inspection Affairs, elaborated: Today's activities focus on roadways spanning from the new bridge to Sasa, Višegrad-Vardište, Nezuci-Ustiprača, and Han Brdo-Gornja Lijeska. All collected waste is being transported to the city landfill. The goal of the campaign is to prepare all public areas in the city and local communities for the upcoming tourist season.
With sunny days and temperatures soaring up to 30 degrees Celsius, vegetation growth has surged. Workers from the Municipal Enterprise "Komunalac" are diligently mowing grass and tending to the city's greenery. Seasonal flower planting is also slated as part of the city's spring makeover, with 6,000 seedlings secured for this purpose.
Marina Simić, specializing in flower production and sales, will oversee the flower planting endeavor.
- Priority areas include main streets, squares, spaces around cultural monuments, and public and sports facilities, explained Simić.
The fire brigade is also partaking in the city's beautification efforts. Their tasks involve washing concrete surfaces and removing winter debris buildup, as highlighted by Željko Milošević, commander of the Višegrad fire brigade.
The collaborative efforts of various stakeholders underscore Višegrad's commitment to enhancing its urban landscape and ensuring a welcoming environment for residents and visitors alike.
