The Sava River in Srbac will once again become a meeting point for numerous outdoor enthusiasts from across the region this spring. As early as May 3, a fishing competition for war veterans with disabilities and pensioners will take place in Brusnik, organized by the “Bistro” Sports Fishing Association.
The
president of the association, Miodrag Vukašinović, said the competition will
run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., followed by the weighing of the catch and the
announcement of winners, along with a joint lunch for all participants.
“On
the Sava, we won’t only measure the catch, but also good spirits. We want this
to be a day when everyone forgets about everyday worries and simply enjoys
nature and companionship,” Vukašinović told Glas Srpske.
Preparations are also underway for the traditional Sava Regatta, which will be held on June 20, organized by the “Sidro” Nautical Club and the Srbac Municipal Tourist Organization.
According
to the club’s president, Radovan Mitraković, the regatta is scheduled to start
at 11 a.m. at the future marina site, near the confluence of the Vrbas and Sava
rivers in Srbac.
“During
the five-hour leisurely ride, participants will have the opportunity to enjoy
the natural beauty of the riverbanks. After reaching the finish line at the
Dević family’s eco picnic site in Korovi, we will organize a social gathering,”
said Mitraković.
Team
registrations are open until June 15 via phone numbers 065/387-707 and
065/763-682. The participation fee is 20 KM per person, which includes
insurance, a T-shirt, drinks, lunch, and music.
“The
Sava Regatta is more than just a boat ride—it’s a firsthand experience of the
river. When you combine water, nature, music, and great company, you get a day
to remember. These are the moments we want to share with everyone who joins
us,” Mitraković emphasized.
