For centuries, the Sava River has connected, nourished and protected the people of Gradiška. Along its banks, generations of fishermen, boatmen and families have grown up, creating memories, friendships and stories that continue to be passed down from one generation to the next. That is why the Sava is much more than a river – it is the soul of Gradiška.
The
river stands as a witness to the town’s rich past while continuing to inspire
its future. Preserving its traditions, celebrating local customs and honoring
the heritage that makes Gradiška unique remain important responsibilities for
the community.
In
that spirit, the 3rd Sava Fishermen’s Evenings will be held on July 1, 2026,
starting at 7:00 p.m. at the Summer Stage of the Homeland Museum in Gradiška.
Visitors
can look forward to the aromas of delicious fish specialties, the sounds of the
tamburitza ensemble “Intermeco,” great company, warm smiles and an evening
filled with the authentic spirit of the Sava River and Gradiška.
Organizers say the event is intended to remind people that some of the community’s most beautiful stories were created beside the river that has shaped generations.
“The
scents of traditional fish dishes, music, friendship and the unique atmosphere
of the Sava await all visitors. Let this event remind us that our finest stories
were born along the river that has defined our identity,” the organizers said.
The
Sava Fishermen’s Evenings have become a celebration of local culture, tradition
and togetherness, inviting residents and visitors alike to experience the charm
and heritage of Gradiška through an unforgettable summer gathering by the
river.
