According to the Facebook page "Gorštak", the hiking trail leading to Skakavac Waterfall has been carefully maintained and upgraded. A picnic table has been installed at the beginning of the trail, along with benches along the route and additional seating in the natural "amphitheater" near the waterfall.

The trail has also been cleared and marked, making it easier for visitors to reach this spectacular natural attraction. A special addition is a decorative photo frame, providing the perfect spot to capture unforgettable memories surrounded by breathtaking scenery.

"Another trail has been brought to perfection. A table at the entrance, benches along the path and near the waterfall, together with a properly cleared and marked trail, will truly make you feel like you're in paradise," the Gorštak team shared.

A hidden gem of the Romanija forests

Skakavac Waterfall is located in the Tisovac forest, near the village of Žeravice, approximately 20 kilometers from Han Pijesak, along the road toward Olovo.

The waterfall is formed by a crystal-clear mountain stream of the same name, about 100 meters long, which cascades over rocky cliffs and limestone formations into the Varošnica River, eventually flowing into the Stupčanica River.

Surrounded by pristine nature, towering rocks and lush vegetation, Skakavac offers spectacular scenery that attracts hikers, photographers and outdoor enthusiasts.

For decades, this natural wonder remained largely forgotten and known only to a small number of locals. Its beauty was brought to wider public attention by local enthusiasts, particularly Cviko Todić, president of the Visočnik Mountaineering and Environmental Society from Han Pijesak.

Thanks to their efforts, the trail was cleared, a small bridge was built across the stream, steps were created, and tourist signs were installed. From Varošnica, visitors can reach the waterfall in approximately ten minutes on foot.

Working together to develop local tourism

The latest trail improvements were carried out with the support of Via Dinarica and the Municipality of Han Pijesak, with valuable contributions from Cviko Todić, Manojlo Mirović, Tadija Tadić, Vukašin Pejanović and Jovan Petrovski.

The Gorštak team emphasized that the work was far from easy, as all the necessary materials had to be carried through challenging forest terrain to reach the waterfall.

Further improvements to hiking trails leading to scenic viewpoints around Han Pijesak are also planned, contributing to the development of outdoor and adventure tourism in the region.

Skakavac Waterfall is a wonderful example of how natural beauty, combined with the enthusiasm and dedication of local communities, can become an increasingly attractive tourist destination.

For travelers looking to escape the city, enjoy the soothing sound of cascading water and discover the lesser-known natural wonders of Republika Srpska, this hidden corner of Romanija is an ideal destination for a memorable outdoor adventure.
