Autumn transforms the landscapes of Romanija into a breathtaking combination of golden forests, rolling hills, and peaceful mountain scenery. One of the region’s hidden gems is the village of Sokolovići, beautifully captured in photographs shared by members of the Glasinac Mountaineering Society.
Located at the foot of Mount Devetak, about 10 kilometers from the main Sokolac–Han Pijesak road, Sokolovići offers a perfect escape into nature.
A VILLAGE OF LEGENDS AND NATURAL BEAUTY
According to local legend, the village was named after Mehmed Pasha Sokolović, who is believed by some to have been born here. Another tradition places his birthplace in a village of the same name near Rudo.
Surrounded by gentle hills, mountain plateaus, natural springs, and unusual rock formations, this part of Romanija is ideal for hikers, photographers, and nature lovers.
In autumn, the village becomes especially picturesque, offering stunning views and a peaceful atmosphere far from the noise of city life.
The photographs shared by the Glasinac Mountaineering Society remind us that some of the most beautiful destinations in Republika Srpska are hidden in its small mountain villages.
