ARCHAEOLOGICAL TREASURE NEAR DRVAR: SOLAR CALENDAR WITH 12 SUN SYMBOLS

In the village of Boboljusci, near Drvar, a fascinating archaeological discovery has been made - a solar calendar dating back to pre-Christian times.

ARCHAEOLOGICAL TREASURE NEAR DRVAR: SOLAR CALENDAR WITH 12 SUN SYMBOLS

After cleaning one of the slabs at the Orthodox cemetery in Boboljusci, which belonged to the Drvar municipality until the 1990s and now to Bihac, symbols of the sun, twelve of them, emerged.

- The slab is located within the Serbian Orthodox cemetery, which contains remnants from the early Middle Ages and is still active today. It is located next to the Orthodox church. It's difficult to speak about its exact age, but it is part of a group of monuments that definitely belong to the early Middle Ages period, said Mr. Siniša Šolak, who, together with Dr. Goran Komar, is responsible for this important discovery.

Šolak notes that such and similar solar calendars are also called 'kolodars' and trace their roots back to mythology and the pantheon of gods attributed to pagans by Christians. The discovery was made during the realization of the project 'Tropolje and Western Sides' carried out by the association of the same name from Glamoč, led by Šolak and Komar.

The association has previously published findings about Cyrillic monuments in Glamoč and Grahovo, with the aim of proving the spatial-physical continuity of the Cyrillic script and literacy in northwestern Bosnia and Herzegovina.
