The third edition of the popular “Krompirijada 2025” festival was held in Janja near Bijeljina, once again confirming its status as one of the region’s most beloved events celebrating food, culture, and tourism.
Visitors from all across Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia gathered to enjoy authentic local dishes, a vibrant atmosphere, live music, and a rich accompanying program that included sports competitions, a raffle, and a contest in preparing the famous potato stew — krompir-paprikaš.
The event is dedicated to the locally grown Janja potato, widely recognized for its high quality and historical importance to the community.
This potato has fed generations, helped educate students, and served as a pillar of survival for families in the region.
In the culinary competition, first place went to the women’s association “Srebrenke” from Srebrenik. The second prize was awarded to the “Poljićke” Association from Poljice, while third place went to the “Pasci” Association from Živinice.
Organizers expressed great satisfaction with the turnout and emphasized that the event not only promotes Janja’s unique culinary offerings but also supports local tourism, strengthens community ties, and safeguards cultural heritage.
