YOUNG PEOPLE AT KOČIĆ’S HOMESTEAD: WHAT DOES FREEDOM MEAN TODAY?

Kočić’s family homestead in Stričići was last night a meeting place for theatre, young people and the idea of freedom.

At the site that preserves the memory of the life and work of Petar Kočić, the play “The One Who Dreamed of Freedom”, performed by DIS Youth Theatre, was staged.

Through the words, characters and spirit of the era of the great Serbian writer, the young actors also raised a question that remains relevant more than a century after Kočić’s time, what does freedom mean to a young person today?

KOČIĆ’S IDEAS FROM A NEW PERSPECTIVE

The contemporary and emotional theatrical story brought Kočić’s struggle, ideas and yearning for freedom closer to the audience, while also placing them in the context of the lives and questions facing younger generations today.

Kočić’s homestead was a particularly meaningful setting for the performance – a place where the past is not preserved merely as a memory, but is brought to life anew through art.

YOUNG PEOPLE AND KOČIĆ’S LEGACY

The performance showed that Kočić’s words can still reach young people today and that his idea of freedom is not merely part of literary and historical heritage.

It is a question that every generation asks anew.

And in Stričići, at the place where Kočić’s life began, theatre once again connected his time with the time in which we live.
