Students from "Sveti Sava" Elementary School in Banja Luka have achieved outstanding success at the final of the International STEM Olympiad, held in Rome from July 2 to 8, earning an impressive total of 17 awards – four gold medals, two silver medals, seven bronze medals, and three Honorable Mentions.
Following last year's remarkable performance, the young competitors from Banja Luka once again proved they belong among the world's best, despite facing even stronger international competition.
More
than 38,000 students from 153 countries participated in the first round of this
year's STEM Olympiad, while only 700 finalists from 54 countries qualified for
the grand final in Rome.
Representing
"Sveti Sava" Elementary School were Vuk Vojvodić, Goran Obradović,
Njegoš Stanković, Helena Brkić, Elena Stojković, Matija Ćopić, Marijana
Bubnjević, and Iva Šibarević, who competed against some of the brightest young
minds from around the globe.
The
students competed in three disciplines – Science, Mathematics, and DIY (Do It
Yourself) – requiring advanced knowledge of natural sciences, mathematics, logical
reasoning, engineering, and practical application of scientific principles. The
Science category, which attracts the largest number of contestants, is
considered the Olympiad's most demanding discipline
